New - Biblical Herbs & Teas
Why are Spices grown in the Holy Land so special ?
Israel, the Land of the Bible, is blessed with many herbs and spices. This is because of the Great Rift Valley, also known as the Syrio African Rift Valley which runs all along it's Eastern Border has a special climate that facilitates the growth of these plants in the Dead Sea area, the Arava, the Galilee, Mount Hermon, Mount Tabor and the Golan Heights. Herbs and spices that grown in these areas are considered by many to have the best aromatic flavor in the world.
The wild hyssop plant is a protected plant in Israel since it was almost made extinct decades ago by over zealous harvesting of it. Since then there is a heavy fine if you pick it for commercial purposes. Ze'ev Ben Cherut, the father of the person who makes this modern day mix, worked for the Ministry of Agriculture, and he is responsible for turning the wild hyssop plant into a cultured plant that can be grown by farmers, to meet the ever growing demand for this plant. Today, there are hundreds of acres of the hyssop plant being grown by farmers for commercial purposes. Ze'ev Ben Cherut, taught his son, Yoram, everything there is to know about growing herbs and other medicinal plants and then Yoram has spent decades perfecting this knowledge.
